Lower River Tay Fishing
Lower Scone
Lower Scone comprises Waulkmill and Goldcastle beats and are two famous fly fishing beats on the Tay, producing fresh run fish from end of April onwards. Fishing is from the bank or wading.
Upper Redgorton
Upper Redgortonlies between Lower Scone and Upper Scone and fishes double bank for whole season. Fishing 'Top Beat' and 'Bottom Beat' on alternate days due to a reciprocal agreement with the owners of Fishponds. Traditional Fishing Bothy is available for members with wood burning stove and gas hob and a picnic table and chairs for "dining out" in good weather. The location offers good Fly, Spinning and Harling water.
Upper Scone
Upper Scone comprises two famous beats on the lower Tay – Pitlochrie, the upstream beat, and Benchil, downstream. These two beats are fished single bank or double bank on alternate days, depending on dates. Pitlochrie has the historic Stanley Mills on the right bank

The Burnmouth fishings extend for approximately 1/2 mile of double bank fishing with 9 named pools and are situated immediately below the Campsie Linn, the main temperature barrier of the river.
Stobhall
Taymount/Stobhall are famous beats on the Tay and we are very lucky to be able to secure time on them. Stobhall and Taymount share the complete beat by rotating upper and lower through the week. The lower beat includes the famous Linn Pool below Campsie Linn – a sight not to be missed. The ghillies are superb on these beats and will work closely with all members to ensure fishing at the best places with the best tackle.
Middle River Tay Fishing
Upper Delvine
Upper Delvine is a single bank beat between Kercock and Delvine Burnbane. PDAA has negotiated exclusive rights to this beat and had three rods every day All season. There is a good hut and fenced parking. This is an ideal beat for beginners and those needing to practise Spey casting. Wading is good.
Newtyle
Newtyle is one of the Tay’s prestigious beats and comprises 2 miles double bank fishing with 16 named pools between Dunkeld and Birnam and Murthly.
Dalguise
Dalguise is a double bank beat some 2 miles downstream of the confluence of the Tummel and Tay. Under new ownership from 2023, the beat has a modernised fishing hut with cooking facilities and toilet available for PDAA members. PDAA fishing is from the bank or wading although there is a full time ghillie to offer advice when required and who will be willing to take members in the boat (by separate negotiation).
Upper River Tay Fishing
Upper Farleyer
Upper Farleyer is one of the best beats on the Upper Tay. It comprises single (left) bank fishing commencing at the junction of the Tay and the Lyon and extends 1.25 miles downstream, opposite the Bolfracks beat. A good proportion of the beat has excellent fly water with a number of good holding pools. In low to medium heights this beat has excellent fly water. The full width of the river can comfortably be fished from the bank or wading. However, especially in higher water, the spinner might also be needed to get the best out of all the water. Being at the junction of the Lyon, fish will hold in Upper Farleyer until water conditions allow them to run the Lyon.
Logierait
Logierait is a double bank beat upstream of Kinnaird Estate. The left bank is wholly owned by PDAA and fishing is shared with Kinnaird such that the double bank is available for PDAA three days a week, Kinnaird having the other three days. Much of the beat is suitable for spinning but there is decent fly water at the Neck of Newton where big salmon can be caught. PDAA has 6 rods per day and guests can be booked.
Other Salmon Rivers
Earn
Earn The River Earn is a beautiful river and PDAA is fortunate to lease fishing on one of the most beautiful beats at Kinkell Bridge. The Earn is an important tributary of the River Tay being in its own right an excellent Salmon river as well as being regarded as one of Scotland’s finest Sea Trout rivers. This is a rare combination and gives the angler more opportunity to catch fish. There is an excellent hut and an experienced ghillie who can provide local knowledge and tackle advice.
Tummel
Tummel PDAA leases 2 rods on the East Haugh beat on a number of days in the spring when fish run the Tummel on their way to Loch Faskally. Located about a mile south of Pitlochry, the beat is 1.5 miles of double bank fishing and has good access from both banks. There is excellent fly water and holding pools throughout the beat.
Ericht
Ericht PDAA lease 2 rods per day on the Blairgowrie and Rattray District Angling. Association waters on the river Ericht downstream of Brig o’ Blair. BRDAA shares fishing with West Grange and the beat is split into upper and lower beats with upper and lower beats shared double bank on alternate days. The Ericht is a spate river and when the water is “right”, fishing can be spectacular.
